Dr. Hanwei Gao’s research group in the Department of Physics, Florida State University now has an opening of one postdoctoral position in the direction of broadly-defined halide perovskites. In the mean time, the Gao Group consistently has 1-2 PhD positions every year.

The Group

Dr. Gao joined FSU Physics in 2013 and will be promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in Aug 2019. His research interests lie in light-matter interactions in nanostructured materials. Recently, his group has been primarily investigating unconventional physical properties and novel optoelectronic functionalities of the halide perovskites. These are a new class of photoactive semiconductors with the potentialfor low-cost, high-performance optoelectronic technology. More details of the group and a list of the publications can be found at www.hwgao.net.

The Position

For postdoctoral candidates, a PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant fields is required. Background with semiconductors and device physics is preferred. Experience with thin film synthesis (CVD/PVD), optical and electrical characterizations, and/or nanoscale device fabrication will be a plus. The successful candidate selected for this position will be involved in one or multiple research projects concerning unconventional charge transportand carrier dynamics, structure-property correlations, and/or demonstration of perovskite-based devices with novel functional ities. Other requirements include proficiency in English (verbal and written) and being able to work in a team.

The appointment can begin immediately with a one-year term and can be renewed based on performance. The appointee will be offered competitive salaries (no less than $47,500annually) and a standard postdoctoral benefit package including health insurance.

How to Apply

To apply for the postdoctoral position, please send your application directly to h-gao@physics.fsu.edu including

(i) a cover letter describing your background and research interest,

(ii) a CV with alist of publications,

(iii) the contact information of at least three references.

Applications for the PhD positions should be submitted online at https://www.physics.fsu.edu/apply.The application usually begins early in the fall semesters with deadlines in December or January. Inquiries can be directed to h-gao@physics.fsu.edu.
